Pearl Abyss Prioritizes Independent Publishing for Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert Release Date and Platforms Still Unannounced
Pearl Abyss remains committed to its self-publishing strategy for Crimson Desert. In a statement to Eurogamer, the developer confirmed its independent publishing plans, previously announced during a public earnings call. While appreciating its business partners and ongoing collaborations, Pearl Abyss clarified its intention to maintain control over its release.
A public showcase of Crimson Desert is planned for November. The developer stated, "We have not yet announced a release date, so any articles on this topic are purely speculative. We will be presenting a playable build to media this week in Paris, followed by a public demonstration at G-Star in November."
September investor meetings revealed Sony's attempt to secure PS5 exclusivity, potentially excluding Xbox for a period. However, Pearl Abyss opted for self-publishing, believing it would yield significantly higher profits.
The final platform lineup and official release date for Crimson Desert remain unconfirmed. However, a PC, PlayStation, and Xbox release is anticipated around Q2 2025.
