While their acquisition and usage might seem unclear initially, this guide provides a comprehensive understanding of each resource. All resources are conveniently tracked within the inventory menu's items tab.
How to Get & Use Bright Blood in Hyper Light Breaker
Bright Blood is the most common resource, earned by defeating enemies, destroying objects, and opening crates in the Overgrowth. Selling gear to Hub vendors also yields Bright Blood.
Its uses include:
- Looting Blades and Rails from corpses in the Overgrowth.
- Opening Stashes and crates in the Overgrowth.
- Purchasing gear from Overgrowth and Hub vendors.
- Upgrading gear at Hub vendors.
How to Get & Use Gold Ration in Hyper Light Breaker
Gold Rations are earned by completing Cycles. Early game, this usually means dying four times and using all your Rezes. After depleting your Rezes, find the NPC at the Hub's Telepad and provide the requested materials to reset the Overgrowth and progress towards earning Gold Rations.
Gold Rations are key to meta-progression, specifically unlocking permanent upgrades via Pherus Bit in the Hub. They also unlock new vendor services.
How to Get & Use Abyss Stone in Hyper Light Breaker
Abyss Stones are obtained by defeating Crowns, challenging bosses found through Overgrowth gates. Remember, you need Prisms (marked with yellow diamonds on the map) before facing Crowns.
Like Gold Rations, Abyss Stones are for meta-progression. Use them to upgrade Sycom stats and unlock new characters during loadout confirmation before entering the Overgrowth.
How to Get & Use Key in Hyper Light Breaker
Keys are occasionally found in unmarked small containers within the Overgrowth.
Their purpose is to bypass barriers in the Overgrowth, granting access to Stashes and other containers, and to enter Labs containing enemies and loot.
How to Get & Use MediGem in Hyper Light Breaker
Extremely valuable, MediGems are earned by interacting with glowing flowers in the Overgrowth. They're exchanged for Medkits when deploying from the Hub's Telepad or visiting Shrines.
You need to expand your Medkit capacity (to one) first using a Gold Ration at Pherus Bit in the Hub.
How to Get & Use Core in Hyper Light Breaker
Cores, another meta-progression resource, are sometimes found in Stashes (marked with chest icons) or by combining four Core Shards. Shards are obtained from enemies that drop Prisms (yellow diamond markers) and unmarked lootable objects.
Cores upgrade your Sycom during loadout confirmation, boosting Breaker stats.
How to Get & Use Material in Hyper Light Breaker
Materials are mainly earned by using Bright Blood to open small chests (often marked with gems) in the Overgrowth. Selling gear in the Hub also provides Materials.
Materials are used to purchase gear from Hub and Overgrowth vendors, similar to Bright Blood but with more limited applications.
