Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Adds Playable Jar Jar Binks and More!

Aspyr has unveiled a surprising new playable character for the upcoming re-release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles: Jar Jar Binks! A new trailer showcases the Gungan in action, wielding a large staff.

This isn't the only addition to the already impressive roster. Aspyr has revealed nine other new playable characters, with more promised before launch.

The 2000 original Jedi Power Battles featured characters and locations from Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace. This updated version aims to recapture that nostalgia while adding new features. Besides customizable lightsaber colors and cheat code support, the expanded character selection is a major highlight.

The Jar Jar Binks gameplay trailer reveals his signature chaotic style, using a staff rather than a lightsaber (disappointing some fans who hoped for a "Darth Jar Jar" twist). His inclusion, alongside other new characters, will undoubtedly be a talking point for fans.

New Playable Characters Revealed:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr is significantly expanding the playable character roster, adding variety with familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, as well as several droid types. The Gungan Guard joins Jar Jar Binks as another Gungan addition to the game.

With the release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles on January 23rd fast approaching, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing these new characters firsthand. Aspyr's previous work on updated classic Star Wars games, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, offers a promising outlook for this updated version of Jedi Power Battles.
