Here are some things we wish we'd known sooner:
Avoid Unprovoked Player Attacks
Screenshot by The EscapistWhile Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP initially caused concern, it's less brutal than expected. Death doesn't result in item loss. However, attacking players incurs a bounty. More kills mean a larger bounty, leading to greater item loss upon your death. Essentially, full-loot PvP is self-imposed. Unless you're prepared for a fight or have a group, avoid attacking other players.
Craft Bags Immediately
Screenshot by The EscapistInventory and bank space are severely limited. Crafting bags is essential. The initial Cotton Bag provides 10 extra slots. Gather Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (be cautious of southern mobs). Craft these bags as soon as possible.
Pets Don't Perish Permanently
Screenshot by The EscapistContrary to belief, pets don't die. A five-minute cooldown prevents summoning after their health reaches zero. Check the cooldown timer (hold T) and resummon after it expires. For quick healing, use the stable master's free storage slot.
Accept All Quests
Screenshot by The EscapistThe sheer number of quests in Rune Slayer can be overwhelming. While most are non-repeatable and forgettable kill quests, accepting all available quests (including those from the job board) simplifies progression. Often, multiple quests can be completed simultaneously.
Craft Everything At Least Once
Screenshot by The EscapistPrioritize crafting necessary items, but experiment with crafting anything you can with spare materials. Initial crafting often unlocks more powerful crafting options. For example, smelting iron ore might unlock new iron armor recipes.
Join a Guild
Screenshot by The EscapistWhile Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies require group efforts. Guilds provide the easiest way to find groups. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord to find a guild.
