SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Emio: The Smiling Man’, ‘Gundam Breaker 4’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Auteur : Nicholas Jan 22,2025

Greetings, fellow gamers! Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 29th, 2024. Today's roundup features a substantial lineup of new releases, forming the core of this Thursday's update, as is customary. We'll also explore a noteworthy selection of new sales. Unfortunately, Nintendo Directs aren't a daily occurrence, so let's dive into the games!

Featured New Releases

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club ($49.99)

The Famicom Detective Club franchise returns after a long hiatus, offering a fresh mystery. This new installment stays true to the original games' style. Expect a captivating new case presented in a manner reminiscent of the recent Switch remakes. Can you crack the latest serial murder case? My review is coming soon!

Gundam Breaker 4 ($59.99)

Mikhail's comprehensive review provides an in-depth look at Gundam Breaker 4's gameplay and Switch performance. In short, you build and battle Gunplas. While the Switch version naturally lags behind other platforms in performance, it's still a satisfying experience. Read Mikhail's insightful review for a complete breakdown.

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn ($19.99)

Tengo Project continues its successful streak of remakes and re-imaginings. Following the acclaimed Wild Guns Reloaded, The Ninja Saviors, and Pocky & Rocky Reshrined, they now tackle an 8-bit classic. Expect a departure from the original, but a solid action-platformer nonetheless. My review will be published early next week.

Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)

A Valfaris sequel with a significant twist: it's a 2.5D side-scrolling shooter. While the genre shift may surprise some, it's a worthwhile experience. Embrace the change, and you'll find much to enjoy. A review is on its way!

Nour: Play With Your Food ($9.99)

I'll admit, I'm a bit puzzled by this one. The visuals are stunning, but the gameplay remains a mystery. Perhaps it's a food photography simulator? A hidden object game? Mikhail might be the best person to unravel this enigma.

Monster Jam Showdown ($49.99)

For monster truck enthusiasts, Monster Jam Showdown offers local and online multiplayer, various modes, and plenty of action. Reception on other platforms has been mixed, but it might satisfy fans of the genre.

WitchSpring R ($39.99)

This appears to be a remake of the original WitchSpring, a mobile title often compared to the Atelier series. While previously budget-friendly, its current price point approaches that of an actual Atelier game, making the purchase decision more complex. Still, it looks to be the best-looking WitchSpring yet.

Depths of Sanity ($19.99)

An underwater exploration game with a fantastical horror theme. Unravel the mystery behind your missing crew as you explore a vast and dangerous underwater world. Combat is involved. Well-received on other platforms, it's likely to appeal to fans of exploratory action games.

Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire ($19.99)

A farming-focused action game where a vegan vampire son rebels against his neck-biting father. While I'm currently somewhat fatigued by the genre, those with more enthusiasm for farming sims might find it appealing.

Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu ($11.79)

A marble roller game with seventy stages and eighty marbles to collect. Features secret collectibles and special challenges. If you enjoy fast-paced marble rolling, this is for you.

Leo: The Firefighter Cat ($24.99)

A firefighting game aimed at a younger audience, featuring twenty missions and kid-friendly visuals.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage ($21.99)

A grotesque action game about a hoverboarding cat. While the core gameplay is reportedly decent, the Switch version suffers from technical issues.

Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation ($7.99)

A 1985 Konami vertical shooter featuring a transforming robot protagonist. A charming, retro shooter for fans of the genre.

EGGCONSOLE Xanadu Scenario II PC-8801mkIISR ($6.49)

An early expansion pack featuring the debut work of legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro. Requires completion of the first game.

The Backrooms: Survival ($10.99)

A horror/survival/roguelite game best enjoyed with up to ten players online.

Can of Wormholes ($19.99)

A clever puzzle game where you, a sentient tin can, must deal with worms. Features one hundred puzzles.

Ninja I & II ($9.99)

Two NES-style microgames featuring ninja-themed challenges. Supports local multiplayer.

Dice Make 10! ($3.99)

A surprisingly fun dice-based puzzle game with two modes.
