Final Fantasy XIV Ends Windows 10 Support, Playable

Author : Zoey Jan 12,2026

Square Enix has announced it will discontinue Windows 10 support for its MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV this coming October.

The publisher confirmed in a statement that support will officially end on October 14, 2025, aligning with Microsoft's own deadline for ending security updates and technical assistance for the operating system.

"While you may still be able to run FINAL FANTASY XIV on Windows® 10 after support ends," the company noted, "we generally will not offer assistance for issues specifically caused by the operating system once support is discontinued."

Square Enix added that it might address some Windows 10-related technical support requests after the cutoff date, but such responses will be limited, evaluated individually, and not assured.

Additionally, the OS and processor requirements for the Windows version of Final Fantasy XIV will also be updated on October 14. Along with moving from Windows 10 64-bit to Windows 11 64-bit, the CPU requirements will increase.

For the Minimum System Requirements, the previously suggested Intel Core i7-7700 (or better) will be replaced by an Intel Core i5-8400 (or higher). The Recommended System Requirements, however, will remain at the Intel Core i7-9700 level.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently preparing for its 7.3 update, titled The Promise of Tomorrow, scheduled for early August. Following the recent Dawntrail expansion, patch 7.3 will introduce a new set of Main Scenario Quests that continue the story after the expansion's events and explore the unusual occurrences in Solution Nine.

Additionally, the next chapter of Final Fantasy XIV's Final Fantasy XI crossover raid series, Echoes of Vana'diel, will arrive with San d'Oria: The Second Walk. Veteran Final Fantasy XI players—some of whom may still be active today—are likely to discover clever Easter eggs and nostalgic references scattered throughout the new battle series.

For Windows 10 users, transitioning away from the operating system appears increasingly unavoidable. If you're still using Windows 10, now may be an opportune moment to consider your next steps as its support deadline approaches.
