How Doom 2099 Works in Marvel Snap

Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a compelling ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card." These DoomBot 2099s are also 4-cost, 2-power cards, boasting the ability: "Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power." Crucially, this buff applies to both DoomBot 2099s and regular Doctor Doom, creating synergistic power boosts.

The strategy revolves around playing exactly one card per turn after summoning Doom 2099. Perfect execution yields three DoomBot 2099s, distributing a significant power boost across the board. Playing Doctor Doom on the final turn further amplifies this effect. Strategically, Doom 2099 acts like a 4-cost, 17-power card under ideal conditions, with even greater potential through early plays or extended game lengths via Magik.

However, Doom 2099 isn't without weaknesses. The random placement of DoomBot 2099s can hinder your strategy, potentially leading to capped locations and opponent advantage. Furthermore, Enchantress (recently buffed) completely negates the DoomBot 2099 power boost, significantly impacting your board presence.

Best Day One Doom 2099 Decks in Marvel Snap

Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement makes it a natural fit for Spectrum-style Ongoing decks. Here are some top contenders:

Deck 1: Spectrum Ongoing

  • Ant-Man
  • Goose
  • Psylocke
  • Captain America
  • Cosmo
  • Electro
  • Doom 2099
  • Wong
  • Klaw
  • Doctor Doom
  • Spectrum
  • Onslaught [Untapped decklist link here]

This budget-friendly deck (only Doom 2099 is a Series 5 card) offers multiple win conditions. Prioritize early Doom 2099 plays using Psylocke or Electro, enabling powerful combinations with Wong, Klaw, and Doctor Doom. Alternatively, if early Doom 2099 placement fails, pivot to a strategy centered around regular Doctor Doom and Spectrum's buffs. Cosmo is crucial for protecting key cards from Enchantress.

Deck 2: Patriot-Style

  • Ant-Man
  • Zabu
  • Dazzler
  • Mister Sinister
  • Patriot
  • Brood
  • Doom 2099
  • Super Skrull
  • Iron Lad
  • Blue Marvel
  • Doctor Doom
  • Spectrum [Untapped decklist link here]

Another affordable option (only Doom 2099 is Series 5), this deck leverages the Patriot strategy. Early game focuses on cards like Mister Sinister and Brood, transitioning into Doom 2099, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, or Spectrum. Zabu provides crucial cost reduction for early-game 4-cost cards. Note that this deck is highly vulnerable to Enchantress, but Super Skrull offers a counter to other Doom 2099 decks. Flexibility is key here; sometimes skipping a DoomBot 2099 spawn to play two 3-cost cards like Patriot and a discounted Iron Lad on the final turn is optimal.

Is Doom 2099 Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doom 2099) are relatively weak, Doom 2099 himself is a worthwhile investment. His power and deck-building flexibility guarantee meta relevance. Prioritize using Collector's Tokens if available, but don't hesitate to acquire him this month; he's poised to become one of Marvel Snap's most impactful cards.
