Solanium Farming in No Man's Sky

Author : Simon Mar 12,2025

In No Man's Sky, certain resources are exclusive to planets with specific climates. Solanium, a valuable resource, is found only on hot, arid worlds. This guide covers gathering, farming, and crafting Solanium.

Finding Solanium in No Man's Sky

Solanium Location

Solanium is similar to Frost Crystals, but thrives on scorching planets. When scanning planets from your ship, look for descriptions like "Arid," "Incandescent," "Boiling," or "Scorched Planet." These often indicate Solanium availability.

Solar Vine

Upon landing, use your Analysis Visor to locate Solar Vines—tall, glowing plants. Harvest them using a Haz-Mat Gauntlet. While there, collect Phosphorus deposits if present; they're crucial for Solanium crafting.

Hydroponic Tray

After progressing the Farmer's Agricultural Research mission, you can farm Solar Vines. Plant them in a Hydroponic Tray or Bio-Dome (using 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus) or directly into the ground on a hot planet. Harvest after approximately 16 real-time hours.

Refiner

Several Refiner recipes create Solanium, most requiring Phosphorus (obtained from hot planets or Galactic Trade Terminals). Here are the recipes:

  • Solanium + Phosphorus (to create more Solanium)
  • Phosphorus + Oxygen
  • Phosphorus + Sulphurine
  • Di-hydrogen + Sulphurine

Note that even Sulphurine-based recipes necessitate a visit to a hot planet. Establishing a Phosphorus farm at your base ensures a steady Sulphurine supply.
