Square Enix sent fans into a frenzy with a tweet on April 7, hinting at an exciting project related to Final Fantasy 9 (FF9). FF9 Remake Rumors Blaze After Square Enix's Latest Tweet

The demand for a FF9 remake has been vocal among fans, drawn to its timeless charm and emotional depth. Even Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has expressed FF9 as his favorite in the series. With the successful rollout of the Final Fantasy 7 remake series, and considering FF9's enduring popularity and its approaching 25th anniversary, a remake seems like a natural progression.

In a 2024 interview with Video Games, Final Fantasy XIV producer Naoki Yoshida touched on the feasibility of an FF9 remake. He noted, "Of course, I do know there are requests for Final Fantasy IX to be made, but when you think about Final Fantasy IX, it’s a game with huge volume." Yoshida further elaborated, "When you think about all of that volume, I wonder if it’s possible to remake that as a single title. It’s a difficult one. It is a tough question."

A deeper dive into the site revealed new Formism Figures of Zidane and Garnet available for pre-order on Square Enix’s e-store. The product descriptions for these figures suggest a modern twist, stating "To commemorate the 25th anniversary, the texture of the costume has been reinterpreted and recreated in three dimensions." This has led many to speculate that these updated character designs could preview what fans might see in a FF9 remake.
