Abyss of Dungeons: Dark and Darker Mobile's New Name Revealed

Author : Christopher May 15,2025

Krafton has taken a significant step to distance itself from the ongoing legal issues surrounding Ironmace Studios by rebranding Dark and Darker Mobile to Abyss of Dungeons. This move primarily involves a name change, along with the likely removal of certain Dungeons & Dragons-specific elements, while the core gameplay mechanics remain untouched.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Ironmace Studios is currently entangled in a legal dispute with Nexon. The latter accuses Ironmace, founded by former Nexon employees, of utilizing trade secrets and assets developed during their tenure at Nexon to create Dark and Darker. The lawsuit continues to unfold, and as previously hinted in February, a name change for Dark and Darker Mobile was on the horizon. That prediction has now materialized with the rebranding to Abyss of Dungeons.

ytNo Difference
Reassuringly, the name change does not signal any alterations to the fundamental gameplay. Dark and Darker Mobile had already introduced significant changes, such as a third-person perspective, but fans can rest assured that the core experience remains intact.

While this development might be disheartening for Ironmace enthusiasts, there's hope that the legal battles will resolve soon, allowing fans to enjoy Abyss of Dungeons alongside the main PC version of Dark and Darker. An upcoming soft launch is scheduled for June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico, adding to the anticipation.
