Japanese Switch 2 Priced Lower than Global Version

Author : Audrey May 05,2025

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch with distinct pricing strategies for Japan and the rest of the world. This new gaming console will be available in two versions: a Japanese-language system exclusive to Japan, and a Multi-Language System available globally. The Japanese version will be priced at approximately $330, while the Multi-Language System will retail at $449.99, a difference of over $100. This pricing discrepancy is largely due to the weakened yen, which makes purchasing in Japan less attractive for tourists.

Residents of Japan have the option to purchase either version, but the Japanese-language system will only be available for purchase within Japan and requires a Nintendo Account set to the Japan region. This version supports only the Japanese language and offers access solely to software available on the Japanese Nintendo eShop. For those interested in using the Switch 2 in languages other than Japanese, Nintendo recommends opting for the Multi-Language System version. More detailed information about this version will be released on April 4.
