Nintendo has announced an exciting Nintendo Direct focused on the Nintendo Switch, scheduled for 7am PT on March 27. The event will showcase approximately 30 minutes of upcoming games for the beloved console. Nintendo has explicitly stated that there will be no updates regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 during this presentation, as those details are reserved for a separate Switch 2 Direct set for 6am PT on April 2.

So, what can fans anticipate from this Nintendo Direct? Despite the buzz surrounding the upcoming Switch 2, Nintendo continues to develop a robust lineup of games for the current Switch, which has sold an impressive 150.86 million units. This vast audience remains a significant market for Nintendo and third-party developers alike.

Among the eagerly awaited titles for the Switch are Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, both slated for release in 2025. Additionally, Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set to hit the Switch sometime this year. Fans have also been eagerly awaiting Hollow Knight: Silksong, which was announced six years ago with confirmed launch platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch. Given the Switch 2's backward compatibility, these games are expected to be playable on both the original Switch and its successor.

This week's Nintendo Direct may serve as a grand finale for the Switch, eight years after its launch, by unveiling Nintendo's final slate of exclusive titles before transitioning to the Switch 2. However, Nintendo might still have some surprises in store for fans, keeping the excitement alive for the current console's remaining lifespan.
