Geometric Arcade Delight "Frike" Debuts on Android

Some video games pump up your adrenaline, raising your heart rate and blood pressure – and that's precisely what makes them exhilarating. Others, however, offer a calming experience, gently lowering your pulse and inducing a state of meditative tranquility. Both types offer unique appeal.

Frike, the debut Android game from indie developer chakahacka, uniquely blends these contrasting experiences. The objective is simple: survive as long as possible. You control a floating triangle segmented into purple, orange, and green sections. Two on-screen buttons control ascent and descent, while a third rotates the triangle.

While Frike features only one level, its infinity renders it anything but small. The gameplay is endless. Scattered throughout the abstract, atmospheric world are colored blocks (white, purple, orange, and green). Scoring involves rotating your triangle to align its colored segments with matching blocks.

Colliding with too many mismatched or white blocks results in a spectacular explosion. Fortunately, some blocks offer beneficial effects, slowing your descent to provide additional time for precise maneuvering.

Frike exemplifies a minimalist arcade-casual game. While competitive players will strive for high scores, the game equally caters to relaxation, allowing players to navigate obstacles and savor the serene visuals. The game's understated visuals are complemented by a meditative soundtrack of resonant chimes and metallic tones.

If this sounds appealing, Frike is available now as a free download on the Google Play Store.
