Marvel Rivals Reveals Season 1 Balance Changes

Marvel Rivals Receives Pre-Season 1 Balance Patch with Significant Character Adjustments

NetEase has deployed a comprehensive balance patch for Marvel Rivals, impacting various heroes ahead of Season 1's launch on January 10th. This update features a mix of buffs and nerfs, addressing community feedback and fine-tuning gameplay dynamics. Key changes include adjustments to team-up abilities and significant alterations to individual character kits.

The patch follows the game's successful launch in late 2024, establishing Marvel Rivals as a prominent contender in the hero-shooter genre. Its blend of iconic characters, team-based objectives (payloads, capture points), and powerful abilities has resonated with players. Season 1, centered around the Fantastic Four, promises further expansion, but this pre-emptive balance patch ensures a smoother transition.

Notable Changes:

The patch extensively revises all hero categories. Several Duelists, including Black Panther, Hawkeye, Hela, and Scarlet Witch, received minor nerfs. Conversely, buffs were applied to Black Widow, Magik, Moon Knight, Wolverine, and Winter Soldier, enhancing their survivability and offensive capabilities. A particularly welcome adjustment is the substantial buff to Storm, previously considered underpowered. Her Bolt Rush now deals 80 damage (up from 70), and Wind Blade's projectile speed has been increased from 100m/s to 150m/s.

Vanguards also received adjustments. Captain America and Thor saw health increases, while Venom's Feast of the Abyss damage was boosted. Strategists, such as Cloak & Dagger, Jeff the Land Shark, and Rocket Raccoon, also experienced various tweaks to their abilities, often focusing on cooldown reductions and increased healing output.

Team-up abilities, activated by specific hero combinations, also underwent revisions. Several team-ups, including Hawkeye/Black Widow and Hela/Thor/Loki, saw their season bonuses reduced. Other team-ups, like Rocket Raccoon/Punisher/Winter Soldier and Thor/Storm/Captain America, received cooldown decreases, enhancing their strategic value.

Detailed Patch Notes:

The full patch notes, detailing specific numerical changes for each hero and team-up ability, are provided below. These notes break down adjustments to health, damage, cooldowns, and other key attributes. Please refer to the detailed breakdown for a complete understanding of the changes.

This pre-Season 1 balance patch demonstrates NetEase's commitment to maintaining a fair and engaging competitive experience in Marvel Rivals. The changes aim to create a more balanced and dynamic meta, promising exciting gameplay for players as they prepare for the arrival of Season 1.
