NieR: Automata - What Items Should You Sell

NieR: Automata: Optimizing Your Inventory and Spending

Almost every item in NieR: Automata can be sold for cash. While selling machine drops is a quick way to earn money, many items serve other purposes, and selling them might hinder your progress. Some items fetch significantly higher prices than others, making selling them a worthwhile endeavor. This guide highlights the best items to sell and the most effective ways to spend your hard-earned credits.

Best Items to Sell

The key indicator for whether an item should be sold is the in-game description: "Can be exchanged for money." This signifies not only a high sale price but also a lack of other uses. Items fitting this description include:

  • Any fish or junk acquired during fishing.
  • Jewelry
  • Masks
  • Animal meat

Many other items, while seemingly inconsequential, often serve as upgrade materials for weapons and pod enhancements. Given the abundance of weapons in the game, prioritizing upgrades for your preferred choices is crucial, rather than repeatedly farming for resources you may have already discarded.

Best Ways to Spend Money

While selling items generates income, strategic spending is equally important. Beyond essential consumables, prioritize these three areas:

Method Explanation Upgrade Plug-In Chip Capacity Increase your plug-in chip storage at the Resistance Camp's Maintenance Shop. This upgrade benefits all three loadouts, even after death. Fuse Plug-In Chips Combine lower-tier chips to create significantly more efficient higher-tier chips. Note that this process requires numerous identical chips and substantial credits per fusion. Upgrade Weapons & Pod Weapon and pod upgrades are relatively inexpensive, but acquiring the necessary resources takes time. Prioritizing upgrades avoids unnecessary delays in optimizing your build.

By strategically selling and spending, you can maximize your efficiency and progress in NieR: Automata.
