Nintendo's Latest Announcement: A LEGO Game Boy!
Nintendo has teamed up with LEGO again, this time unveiling a LEGO Game Boy set! Launching October 2025, this follows the successful LEGO NES release. While exciting news for fans of both brands, the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) has sparked a flurry of speculation regarding the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Many joked that the LEGO Game Boy is Nintendo's way of announcing their next console.
Although details about the Switch 2 remain scarce, President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that an announcement is planned within the current fiscal year (ending March). Patience is key, as the official reveal is still pending.
Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy hasn't been revealed yet, but further information is promised in the coming weeks or months.
Previous Nintendo and LEGO Collaborations
Beyond the NES and Game Boy, Nintendo and LEGO have previously collaborated on sets featuring beloved characters from iconic franchises.
This includes Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda (TLZ). For example, a 2,500-piece LEGO set featuring the Great Deku Tree (from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild), Princess Zelda, and the Master Sword was released in May 2024 for $299.99 USD.
Following this, a Super Mario and Yoshi set, showcasing the classic sprite art from Super Mario World with a rotating crank mechanism, was released for $129.99 USD.
