Ryan Reynolds Eyes Deadpool-X-Men Film: Early Stages

Author : Leo May 28,2025

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in the "early stages" of developing a new film that would bring together Deadpool and the X-Men, according to THR. This project, separate from the X-Men movie being penned by Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie, would feature Deadpool not as the lead, but sharing the spotlight with three or four other X-Men characters. Reynolds aims to put these characters front and center, allowing them to be "used in unexpected ways," which promises a fresh take on the superhero ensemble genre.

This concept echoes the development process of Deadpool & Wolverine, which started as a low-budget road trip movie before evolving into the blockbuster it became. Reynolds is known for nurturing his ideas independently before presenting them to Marvel, a strategy that has paid off in the past. While details about which X-Men characters might join Deadpool remain under wraps, the Merc With a Mouth has a history of teaming up with various mutants, including Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Channing Tatum's Gambit.
