Far Cry 4 Achieves 60fps on PS5

Author : Max May 25,2025

Eleven years after its initial release, Far Cry 4 has been enhanced to run at a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) on the PlayStation 5. This update, highlighted by user gael_74 on the Far Cry 4 subreddit, was introduced in Version 1.08, which specifically added "support 60 FPS on PS5 console."

If you haven't yet experienced this title, now is an excellent opportunity to dive in. Far Cry 4 transports players to a vibrant and expansive open world set against the backdrop of the Himalayas. This environment is not merely scenic; it's an interactive playground that invites you to engage in combat, hunt, and explore its vertical landscapes. The game features one of the series' most memorable antagonists, Pagan Min, adding depth to the narrative.

While Far Cry 4 may have its flaws in character development, its campaign, cooperative, and competitive multiplayer modes offer a thrilling sense of freedom, as noted in IGN's "great" 8.5/10 review.

The 10 Best Far Cry Games

View 11 ImagesFar Cry 4 joins other PS4-era Ubisoft titles like Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins in receiving a retrospective performance upgrade. This move has sparked enthusiasm among fans on the subreddit, who are now eagerly anticipating similar enhancements for other beloved titles such as Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3.

However, the timing of the update was unfortunate for some, with one player lamenting, "You are kidding right. I just platinumed the game, like, three days ago."

In related news, Ubisoft recently established a new subsidiary focused on its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises, backed by a significant €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Tencent. This development follows the announcement that Assassin's Creed Shadows surpassed 3 million players, a critical success for Ubisoft amidst a challenging period marked by high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations, which led to the company's share price reaching an all-time low.

Additionally, Ubisoft has recently added Steam Achievements to the 12-year-old Splinter Cell: Blacklist, quietly expanding its reach and engagement with the gaming community.
