Xbox Launches Three New Preorder Wireless Controllers

Author : Audrey Nov 19,2025

Microsoft has unveiled three distinct new special edition Xbox Wireless controllers, collectively known as the Breaker Series. These controllers feature a shared, eye-catching jagged design motif and come in a variety of color schemes. Priced at $79.99, they are available for pre-order now and are scheduled for release on September 9. You can view them on the Microsoft Store or check the Amazon listings, which are currently being updated (the full product pages should be live shortly, and this page will be updated accordingly).

The collection includes the cool blue Ice Breaker, the monochrome Storm Breaker, and the vibrant Heart Breaker in purple, pink, and blue. Each controller boasts textured grip surfaces and other unique design elements that we will explore in more detail.

The Ice Breaker model sports a fittingly frosty aesthetic, with sharp, layered patterns in shades of blue, light blue, and white across its front. The controller's faceplate incorporates translucent white plastic in unpainted areas, adding a sense of depth. Accents of light blue are found on the thumbsticks, action buttons, and D-pad. The textured grips ensure a secure hold, preventing the controller from slipping from your hands like a piece of ice. The overall visual effect is quite impressive.

While the other Breaker Series controllers offer more subdued color palettes, the Heart Breaker makes a bold statement. Its face features striking shards of pink, purple, and blue set against a translucent pink plastic base. The controller is further accentuated with purple thumbsticks, a pink D-pad, and action buttons with pink lettering on purple backgrounds.

For gamers who prefer a more minimalist controller design, the Storm Breaker is the ideal choice. It retains the signature shard-based pattern but uses a sophisticated combination of black, gray, and white. Unlike the other models, its faceplate is not translucent; instead, it features subtle silver accents that become visible as the controller catches the light. It also comes with a metallic D-pad for a premium touch.

Like all official Xbox Wireless controllers, these new editions are fully compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PCs, Mac, Android, and iOS devices. As a long-time gamer, I consider this generation of Xbox controllers to be among the best I've ever used. They are exceptionally comfortable to hold, and the textured grips and triggers provide excellent control. While the PS5's DualSense controller offers features like a large touchpad and advanced haptics, I find the superior ergonomics and feel of the Xbox controller make it my preferred choice for extended gaming sessions. This, of course, is a matter of personal preference.
