The formation of Reburn, a studio comprised of former 4A Games Ukraine developers (creators of the acclaimed Metro series), has prompted 4A Games to reaffirm its dedication to the franchise's future. This reassurance follows Reburn's announcement of their debut project, La Quimera, which sparked speculation about the Metro series' trajectory.

In an official statement, 4A Games clarified its relationship with Reburn, offering congratulations on La Quimera while emphasizing its continued focus on the Metro games. The statement declared, “We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games. Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception.”
Beyond the upcoming Metro sequel, 4A Games hinted at development on a new, unannounced IP. The studio highlighted its pride in its Ukrainian heritage and multicultural team, noting that approximately 150 of its over 200 employees remain based in Kyiv, with additional operations in Sliema, Malta, and remote work arrangements.
Regarding the organizational split, 4A Games explained: “Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn.”
Since the 2019 release of Metro Exodus, fan anticipation for a new entry has grown amidst limited updates. While spin-offs and enhancements like the Enhanced Edition have kept the series alive, many eagerly await the next chapter in Dmitry Glukhovsky's dystopian world. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), the studio initially teased a new Metro title in 2019, hinting at a release in "202X" before becoming quiet. Now, it appears that wait may soon be over.
