The highly acclaimed TV adaptation of The Last of Us was greenlit for Season 3 even before its second season premiered. But will the story continue into a fourth season? Showrunner Craig Mazin has suggested that a Season 4 is practically essential for the series.
In an interview with Collider, Mazin acknowledged that condensing the complete narrative of the two Naughty Dog-developed video games into Season 3 alone would make the season "take forever." Though there's a "decent chance" Season 3 will run longer than the second season, he affirmed that "there’s no way to complete this narrative in a third season."
He added: "Hopefully, we’ll earn our keep enough to return and finish the story in a fourth. That’s the most likely outcome."
