Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 million for cancer prevention.
The Prevent Cancer Foundation benefited from the Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, which concluded on January 13th. The event raised over $2.5 million, a figure exceeding the 2024 total by over $100,000. This significant contribution supports the foundation's mission of early cancer detection, prevention, research, and public awareness initiatives.
AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, featured a diverse range of speedruns, showcasing titles like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and Pikmin. The event marked one of two major annual GDQ marathons, complementing the Summer Games Done Quick event held in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year. A notable example is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief following Hurricane Helene.
A standout moment was a spirited Crazy Taxi run by Chuckles825, accompanied by a live band performing the game's soundtrack. This innovative approach generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling four-player randomized race of Super Metroid.
The Games Done Quick organization's commitment to charitable causes continues, with AGDQ 2025 adding to the over $26 million already raised for the Prevent Cancer Foundation through previous events. Summer Games Done Quick 2025 is scheduled for July 6th in Minneapolis, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
