Alan Wake 2 Tops 2 million Sales and Finally Starts Turning a Profit

Author : Max Feb 26,2025

Alan Wake 2 surpasses 2 million global sales, exceeding initial projections. This figure surpasses the 1.3 million units sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period where Remedy Entertainment celebrated it as their fastest-selling title.

Remedy's recent financial report to investors highlights this achievement, attributing the milestone to the game's success and the subsequent release of the Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition. The strong sales have enabled the game to begin generating royalties after covering development and marketing expenses.

The studio also provided updates on upcoming projects. Control 2, a collaboration with Annapurna Interactive, is nearing completion of its pre-production phase and will commence full production in late February 2025. Similarly, the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is progressing steadily in full production.

Remedy's multiplayer Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak, remains in full production. A successful closed technical test in December validated matchmaking and backend services. While a release date is yet to be announced, self-publishing by Remedy is planned for later in 2025.

CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's strategic direction and projected targets.

IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 awarded the game a 9/10, praising it as a superb survival horror sequel that significantly surpasses its predecessor.
