As if fans could resist the return of Alicia Silverstone as Cher Horowitz in a new "Clueless" sequel series, set to stream on Peacock. According to Variety, the project is in development, with plot details under wraps, but we know it will continue the story from the beloved 1995 film. This series marks a fresh take, distinct from Peacock's previously announced "Clueless" spin-off in 2020.
The creative team behind this revival is impressive. Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original "Gossip Girl" and its reboot, will co-write the series with Jordan Weiss. They will also executive produce alongside Amy Heckerling, the writer-director of the original film, and Robert Lawrence, the film's producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are on board to produce the series.
This isn't the first time "Clueless" has transitioned to the small screen. After the film's success, a TV adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, starring Rachel Blanchard as Cher instead of Silverstone.
Silverstone's recent return to her iconic role in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her eagerness to step back into Cher's shoes—and her closet. Fans are undoubtedly excited to see what new adventures await Cher Horowitz in this eagerly anticipated series.
