God of War TV Series Greenlit for Two Seasons by Amazon

Amazon Commits to Two Seasons of God of War Adaptation

Ronald D. Moore, the new showrunner for Amazon's upcoming God of War series, has confirmed the streaming giant has ordered two seasons upfront. Moore took over production following the departure of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus.

During an interview with Battlestar Galactica co-star Katee Sackhoff, Moore shared details about his current project: "I'm currently developing an adaptation of the popular video game God of War for Amazon. They've committed to two seasons and brought me on board to lead the project. We're actively working in the writers' room right now."

Veteran Showrunner at the Helm

The acclaimed producer, known for his work on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Battlestar Galactica, admits he's not an avid gamer. "I've played classics like Defender and Asteroids, but modern controllers confuse me," Moore joked. "When the game says 'Press R1,' I'm looking around asking which button that is - then suddenly I'm dead."

Moore will serve as writer, executive producer and showrunner for the series, which will adapt the narrative from the successful 2018 PlayStation game. Original game director Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer.

Amazon's Gaming Adaptations Strategy

Amazon has shown confidence in video game adaptations following successful debuts of series like Fallout and Secret Level. While full details about the God of War production remain under wraps, the two-season order suggests strong faith in the project's potential.
