Top Spring 2025 Anime Recommendations
From the spring 2025 lineup, I've spotlighted The Apothecary Diaries, Once Upon A Witch’s Death, The Beginning After The End, To Be Hero X, and WITCH WATCH as must-watch series on Crunchyroll. Here are some additional recommendations that deserve a spot on your watchlist:
Devil May Cry is Netflix's latest venture into anime-style video game adaptations. With a trailer featuring Limp Bizkit and a new Evanescence track, it's clear that the creators understand the tone they're aiming for. While Netflix has had mixed results with such adaptations, ranging from hits like Castlevania and Arcane to misses like Tekken: Bloodline, the involvement of creator Adi Shankar and Studio Mir, known for Avatar: The Last Airbender and Korra, bodes well. Even if you're unfamiliar with the Devil May Cry universe, fans of anime like Trigun should enjoy the adventures of Dante, the quintessential '00s edgelord.
In Moonrise, the moon fights for independence, a concept that could have been a sequel to 2021's Moonfall. This original net animation boasts impressive talent behind it, including animation by WIT Studio (Attack On Titan, Vinland Saga), character designs by Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist), and direction by Masashi Koizuka (Attack On Titan Seasons 2 & 3). Though details about the story are scarce, the anticipation is high for what promises to be a unique experience.
Lastly, YAIBA: Samurai Legends brings back the beloved manga series by Gosho Aoyama, the creator of Case Closed. This samurai comedy follows Yaiba Kurogane as he battles an arch-nemesis with a magical katana and a demon army. With WIT Studio at the helm and Aoyama's direct involvement, this adaptation promises to blend the humor and action of early Dragon Ball with the detective flair of Detective Conan, complete with historical Japanese cameos.
