Assassin's Creed Games Ranked: A Tier List

Author : Madison Mar 26,2025

Ubisoft's latest addition to the iconic stealth-action open-world series, *Assassin's Creed Shadows*, has arrived, and it's time to consider its place within the storied franchise. With over 30 titles released under the Assassin's Creed banner, we're focusing solely on the mainline games, excluding mobile, side-scrolling, VR entries, and spin-offs like *Bloodlines* or *Liberation*.

The journey began in 2007 with Desmond Miles stepping into the Animus to experience the life of his ancestor, Altaïr. Fast forward 18 years, and we're now exploring 16th-century Japan through the eyes of Naoe and Yasuke. *Assassin's Creed Shadows* marks the 14th entry in this core series, and I've taken the liberty of ranking them based on my personal enjoyment using an IGN Tier List. Here's a glimpse at my rankings:

Simon Cardy's Assassin's Creed Tier List

Topping my S-tier is *Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag*, which remains my favorite due to its perfect blend of island exploration, ship combat, and a vibrant cast of characters. It's joined by *Assassin's Creed 2*, the game that truly propelled the series into the spotlight. In the A-tier, I've placed *Valhalla*, which might raise some eyebrows, but I thoroughly enjoyed the Viking-inspired combat and the addictive Orlog minigame. Alongside it sits *Unity*, whose breathtaking recreation of French Revolution-era Paris still impresses even after a decade.

Do you disagree with my rankings? Perhaps you think *Valhalla* is overly bloated or that *Assassin's Creed 2* is overrated? Why not create your own tier list and compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the rest of the IGN community? You can do so below:
