Atelier Resleriana: Global EOS Announcement for Forgotten Alchemy and Polar Night Liberator

Another mobile game has unfortunately reached its end of service (EOS). This time, it's Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, announced by Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games. The global version of this RPG will be shutting down, despite having launched just over a year ago in January 2024. It's clear that the game struggled to gain traction in the global market. We'll delve deeper into the reasons behind this decision later on.

It's worth noting that the Japanese version of Atelier Resleriana is still going strong and has no plans for an EOS. It launched in September 2023 and is set to celebrate its 1.5th anniversary in March 2025. This stark contrast between the global and Japanese versions is quite ironic, as you'll see below.

When Is the Atelier Resleriana EOS?

The global version of Atelier Resleriana will shut down on the very same month the Japanese version celebrates its 1.5th anniversary, adding another layer of irony. The EOS date is set for March 28th, 2025. At that time, while Japanese players will be advancing into Chapter 22 (Part 2), global players will be concluding their journey at Chapter 21 (Part 1).

The in-game purchase system has already been disabled, but players can still use their Lodestar Gems until the shutdown. Koei Tecmo has also committed to providing new content and events leading up to the EOS. Interestingly, the global version recently celebrated its first anniversary on January 25th, making the timing of the EOS announcement even more poignant.

Why Is It Shutting Down?

The developers have released a notice stating that after careful evaluation, they found it impossible to maintain the game at a satisfactory level for players, leading to the decision to shut down the global version. This assessment rings true, as Atelier Resleriana failed to make a significant impact among its player base.

Just a couple of months post-launch, the community began voicing concerns over the game's gacha system. While the main characters were well-received, the gameplay and monetization strategies fell short, and the power creep was excessively frustrating for many players. These factors undoubtedly contributed to the decision to end the global service of Atelier Resleriana. If you're interested in saying your final goodbyes, you can find the game on the Google Play Store.
