"Atuel: Award-Winning Documentary Game Launches on Android Soon"

Matajuegos, an innovative indie cooperative from Argentina, has exciting news for gamers: their acclaimed surrealist documentary game, Atuel, is set to launch on PC and Android later this year. The anticipation is building as the Steam page is now live, allowing eager players to pre-register. Google Play enthusiasts won't have to wait long either, as the game will soon be available for pre-registration on that platform as well.

Originally launched on itch.io in September 2022, Atuel quickly captured the hearts of players and critics alike with its unique fusion of documentary storytelling, experimental gameplay, and breathtaking dreamlike visuals. The game's innovative approach was recognized at IndieCade 2022, where it won the prestigious 'Innovation in Experience Design Award.' Atuel's acclaim didn't stop there; it garnered numerous other awards and was showcased at prestigious venues such as the Marché du Film at Cannes and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Curious about Atuel? You can get a sneak peek with the trailer below.

What Do You Do in Atuel, the Documentary Game?

Atuel immerses players in the enchanting yet vulnerable Atuel River Valley in Argentina, a region facing the challenges of climate change. The game offers a profound experience where you transform into various animals and elements of the ecosystem, allowing you to become an integral part of the landscape. One moment you might be gliding through the sky, and the next, you're flowing as the river itself. This immersive gameplay is complemented by real-life interviews with historians, biologists, geologists, and locals, who share insights into the region's history, its current state, and the looming impact of climate change.

Matajuegos partnered with the international documentary team, The 12.01 Project, to weave these compelling stories into the game. The visuals, inspired by the Cuyo desert, create an almost otherworldly atmosphere, setting Atuel apart as a visually stunning experience.

While waiting for Android pre-registration to open, you can visit the Steam page or the official website for more details. Once Atuel hits mobile devices, it will feature localization in seven new languages and full controller support, ensuring a global and accessible gaming experience.

In the meantime, don't miss out on our coverage of another exciting new release, Open World Ski and Snowboard Game Grand Mountain Adventure 2.
