Get ready, fans of the Avatar universe! Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have just unveiled their latest project, Avatar: Seven Havens, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the beloved series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are back at the helm, bringing us a thrilling new 26-episode, 2D animated series that promises to expand the world we've grown to love.

Set in a world fractured by a cataclysmic event, Avatar: Seven Havens follows the journey of a young Earthbender who discovers her destiny as the new Avatar after Korra. However, in this perilous new era, being the Avatar is a dangerous title that brands her as a destroyer rather than a savior. As she is pursued by both human and spirit enemies, she teams up with her long-lost twin to unravel their enigmatic origins and safeguard the Seven Havens—the last bastions of civilization.

In their statement, Konietzko and DiMartino shared their excitement about continuing to explore the Avatarverse, saying, “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”

Avatar: Seven Havens will unfold over two seasons, each consisting of 13 episodes, forming Book 1 and Book 2. Alongside DiMartino and Konietzko, the series will be co-created and executive produced by Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast remains under wraps, anticipation is building for what promises to be an epic continuation of the Avatar saga.

This new series marks the first mainline TV project from Avatar Studios, who are also busy developing a feature-length animated film centered on Aang. Scheduled for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, the movie will showcase adult Aang embarking on a fresh adventure.

As part of the grand 20th anniversary celebration, Avatar Studios is not stopping at just a new series and movie. They are also launching a variety of new books, comics, concerts, toys, and even a game on Roblox, ensuring that fans have plenty of ways to dive back into the world of Avatar.
