Backbone Launches Exclusive Mobile Controller with Xbox

Author : Owen May 14,2025

Xbox has been making significant strides in the mobile gaming arena, aligning with their broader strategy to make Xbox an identity rather than just a platform. This commitment is evident in their latest collaboration with game peripheral manufacturer Backbone, introducing the Backbone One: Xbox Edition, a mobile-focused controller designed to enhance gaming on the go.

Priced at a recommended retail price of $109.99, the Backbone One: Xbox Edition will be available directly from the manufacturer and through Best Buy Drops. The controller features the iconic XYBA buttons, the Xbox logo, and other elements that fans will instantly recognize. Its standout feature is the eye-catching semi-translucent green design, which adds a stylish flair to the device.

Currently, the Backbone One: Xbox Edition is compatible exclusively with USB-C devices, catering primarily to Android users. However, with potential future legislation in the EU mandating the use of USB-C, this could open up compatibility to more iOS devices as well.

Backbone One: Xbox Edition Controller

The allure of the Xbox Edition Backbone, with its transparent plastic casing, is undeniable. It's particularly appealing to avid GamePass users and those deeply entrenched in the Xbox ecosystem. However, the price point of over $100 might be a deterrent for some potential buyers. While it's significantly less than the cost of an actual Xbox console, which retails for over $400, the premium branding and price could be a sticking point for budget-conscious gamers.

Despite the cost, Xbox's push into mobile gaming is commendable and showcases their dedication to expanding their reach. If you're interested in exploring what Xbox has to offer on mobile, take a look at our list of the top 10 best Xbox Game Pass releases for Android!
