Bandai Namco to End PAC-MAN Mobile Service

Bandai Namco has made the bittersweet announcement of the shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this mobile version of the classic game has been a beloved fixture for many fans.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases have already been discontinued as of April 1st. If you're among the dedicated players still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final day on May 30th.

Many in the community have voiced their disappointment, wishing that Bandai Namco would have opted for an offline version instead of a complete shutdown. An offline option would have been welcomed and could have continued to generate revenue for the company.

This iteration of PAC-MAN, once known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. It included the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, a Story Mode with numerous original mazes, an Adventure Mode featuring limited-time themed events for exclusive skins, and a Tournament Mode with weekly maze challenges across three difficulty levels. Additionally, the game boasted a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more.

The Reason

The decision to shut down the game likely stems from the accumulation of bugs and issues that have plagued it in recent years. Initially, the game saw a surge of excitement upon its Android launch, with players eagerly competing for high scores and leaderboard rankings. Those were the fun, competitive days.

If you're looking to enjoy PAC-MAN Mobile one last time before its shutdown, you can still download it from the Google Play Store.
