Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

Diablo 3's beloved "Fall of Tristram" event is set to conclude on February 1, yet many fans are eager for its extension. Unfortunately, as community manager pezradar explained, the event's hard-coded nature makes it currently impossible to extend through server-side adjustments. Pezradar stated, "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes."

In addition to addressing the "Fall of Tristram" event, pezradar also touched on the delay of Diablo 3's Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted the weekend plans of some players. He apologized for the inconvenience, explaining, "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [last 33rd] season early in early January." The extra time will be used to implement and test new code, ensuring a seamless transfer of player progress. Pezradar also acknowledged the need for improved communication with players in the future, stating, "We can improve communication with players at earlier stages, and the team is aware of this for the future."

In other news, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing for this innovative game will commence on January 25 for players in Europe, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a blend of "the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games," drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a shattered world. The team at Wolcen Studio is excited to gather feedback from players during the alpha testing phase.
