Years of fervent pleas from Bloodborne fans for a remastered edition of the FromSoftware masterpiece have reached a fever pitch, fueled by recent Instagram activity.
Instagram Posts Reignite Bloodborne Remaster Hype
A Beloved Classic Deserves a Modern Makeover
Bloodborne, a critically acclaimed 2015 RPG, remains a cherished title for many gamers. The desire to revisit Yharnam's gothic streets on modern consoles is widespread. While no official announcement has been made, recent posts on FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia's Instagram accounts featuring the game have ignited a fresh wave of excitement.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne." One depicted Djura, a formidable hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The others highlighted the player character exploring Yharnam's heart and the eerie Charnel Lane graveyards.
While these posts could simply be a nostalgic nod, dedicated Bloodborne players on platforms like Twitter (X) are meticulously analyzing every detail, searching for clues hinting at a long-awaited remaster. The timing, especially with a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th, has only heightened their anticipation.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location from a series of images. The comments section is filled with fervent pleas for a Yharnam return, with many humorously suggesting a PC or modern console release as the most iconic location.
The Hunt for a Bloodborne Remaster Continues, Nearing a Decade Later
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne has cultivated a fiercely loyal fanbase, earning widespread critical acclaim and recognition as one of gaming's finest. Despite this, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
Fans point to the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally released in 2009) as a potential precedent for Bloodborne's revival. However, this hope is tempered by the lengthy wait for the Demon's Souls remake, leading to fears of a similar delay for Bloodborne. With the game's tenth anniversary approaching, anticipation is at an all-time high.
Fuel was added to the fire in a February interview with Eurogamer, where director Hidetaka Miyazaki acknowledged the potential benefits of remastering Bloodborne for modern hardware, highlighting increased accessibility for a wider audience.
While Miyazaki's comments offer a ray of hope, the final decision rests not with FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, which FromSoftware fully publishes, Bloodborne's rights are held by Sony. Miyazaki has previously stated that he is not at liberty to discuss Bloodborne specifically due to these ownership considerations.
Bloodborne's passionate community eagerly awaits a remaster. Despite its critical success and strong sales, Sony has yet to expand its availability beyond the PS4. Whether these recent speculations will translate into reality remains to be seen.
