This announcement, shared by Xbox president Sarah Bond on X, comes on the heels of a significant court ruling in Google's antitrust battle with Epic Games. This ruling mandates that Google Play offer expanded options and flexibility to rival app stores for three years, starting November 1st, 2024. This opens the door for the new Xbox app.

What's New?

While an existing Xbox Android app allows game downloads to consoles and cloud gaming for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the November update will introduce the crucial ability to purchase games directly within the app itself.
