Side quests in games like *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* can range from enjoyable to perplexing, and "In Vino Veritas" is a perfect example of a quest that involves multiple steps and even a side quest within it. Let's dive into how to navigate this intriguing adventure.

Speak with Casper and Havel

To kick off "In Vino Veritas," you'll need to find Casper Rudolf by his drink cart on the east side of Kuttenberg City. Just enter through the east gate and walk straight ahead; you can't miss him. Casper's curious about the secret behind the monks' exquisite wine, and your journey to uncover this begins with him. Make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with Casper to learn about Havel and the book he left with Adleta. This information will help you decide how to approach the first part of the quest, which is making a good impression on Havel.

If you choose to retrieve the book from Adleta, head to the southeast corner of Kuttenberg's inner wall during the morning or afternoon. You'll find an open garden where Adleta spends her time. Before you go, pick five Marigolds. When you arrive, try to speak with Adleta before her brother, Hugo, shows up. If Hugo is already there, you'll need his permission to talk to her. Be kind during your conversation and mention that you need the book for Casper. You can either pass a skill check to convince her to give it to you or offer the Marigolds as a gift in exchange for the book. Once you have the book, read it from your inventory.

Alternatively, you can skip retrieving the book and go directly to Havel at his inn in Kuttenberg City. To make a favorable impression, brush up on your drinking skills and wear an outfit that boosts your Charisma to at least 18. When talking to Havel, choose the following dialogue options:

  • Germany. Let's do it.
  • That's a very fine gift.
  • Steinberger.
  • It's missing ginger.

With these choices, Havel will share the monastery's secret ingredient with you. Return to Casper with this valuable information.

Find the Monastery's Secret Ingredient

Next, head to the vineyard north of Kuttenberg and speak to the recruiter to initiate the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest. While you don't need to complete this side quest, starting it allows you to explore the vineyard without being considered a trespasser. Inside, find Jerome, who is usually sitting on a bench near the main building.

Once at the main building, sneak inside, turn left, and head to the storeroom. Use your lockpicking skills to open the chests there and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks, which are the secret ingredient Casper needs. If you're looking to earn some extra Groschen, take five seedlings from the garden behind the main building before you leave.

If you decide to complete "Under the Straw Hat," engage in tasks such as removing plants around the vines and moving sacks. After completing enough work, report to Jerome to finish the side quest and earn some Groschen. Otherwise, head back to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks, and the seedlings if you collected them.

With that, you've successfully completed "In Vino Veritas" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*. Now you can move on to other quests or perhaps indulge in collecting badges and dice for a change of pace.
