This single-player shop management game puts you in the shoes of a card shop owner, where running a business becomes an adventure in itself. Originally launched on PC in February 2022, this title from Henry's House, Oscar Brittain, and Rob Gross (published by Akupara Games) has now made its way to consoles and mobile devices, courtesy of Crunchyroll. What's the Kardboard Kings Story?
You play as Harry Hsu, inheriting his father's card shop. His father was a renowned card collector and former champion of the legendary card game, Warlock. Now, Harry is the new face behind the counter, navigating the exciting world of buying, selling, and trading cards.
Harry isn't alone; he has Giuseppe, a fast-talking, card-dealing cockatoo as his business partner! Giuseppe possesses an uncanny ability to spot a great deal, proving to be a more insightful business partner than many humans.
The shop is charmingly located by the seaside. As Harry, you'll strive to keep customers happy, or if you're feeling mischievous, you can even try to outsmart them for extra profit.
The game features charming and sarcastic characters, with references to other card games and anime. Over 100 unique card designs boast quirky illustrations, including shiny variants.
Gameplay Details
The core gameplay is simple: buy low, sell high, and profit! However, as you progress, card conditions and set rarities fluctuate, adding depth. Factors like foil finish and card popularity impact value.
Kardboard Kings also includes a roguelite deck-building mode on Card Game Island, where you'll face skilled duelists. You can also host tournaments, booster pack parties, and clearance sales to manage inventory.
