CD Projekt Red has announced the installation size for Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch 2 at 64GB. While smaller than the Xbox and PS5 versions (100-110GB), this still consumes a substantial 25% of the Switch 2's 256GB internal storage.
Scheduled for release alongside the Switch 2 on June 5, Cyberpunk 2077 will be sold both as a 64GB physical game card and as a digital download via Nintendo eShop.
Nintendo recently revealed that some Switch 2 game cards won't include actual games but rather download codes, though this doesn't apply to Cyberpunk 2077.
This raises an important question: How much storage space will Switch 2 users realistically have available?
The Switch 2's 256GB internal storage represents a major upgrade from the original Switch's 32GB. However, evidence suggests Switch 2 games will require significantly more space.
Cyberpunk 2077's 64GB footprint dwarfs even Tears of the Kingdom's 16GB on the original Switch. Other anticipated titles like the $80 Mario Kart World will likely follow this trend of larger file sizes.
The solution? Expandable storage. While the PS5, Xbox, and original Switch all support external storage, the Switch 2 breaks compatibility by requiring microSD Express cards - rendering existing microSD, microSDHC, and microSDXC cards obsolete and forcing users to purchase more expensive alternatives.

Nintendo plans to collaborate with SanDisk and Samsung on official branded cards, though these typically carry premium pricing compared to third-party equivalents. The Switch 2's launch may attract more manufacturers to the microSD Express market, but price reductions aren't guaranteed.
