Hideo Kojima took to the stage at SXSW 2025 in Austin, TX, to unveil an exciting new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and confirm its release date.
Death Stranding 2 is set to launch on June 26, 2025, exclusively on PlayStation 5. However, those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition will enjoy two days of early access starting from June 24.
The 10-minute trailer, showcased below, features a mix of cinematics, gameplay clips, and introduces a character that has sparked considerable buzz. Played by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, the character named Neil sports a bandana reminiscent of Snake from Kojima's iconic Metal Gear series and leads a team of eerie soldiers. Neil, wielding an assault rifle, is speculated to be a soldier, adding to the game's intriguing narrative.
The trailer further enhances the Metal Gear atmosphere with the introduction of the Magellan Man, a massive tar-like creature reminiscent of Metal Gear Rex. This creature, part of the Collector's Edition as a 15" statue, is controlled like a Pacific Rim-style mech and battles against colossal, creepy tar monsters.
Pricing for Death Stranding 2 includes a standard edition at $69.99, a Collector's Edition at $229.99, and a Digital Deluxe Edition at $79.99. Pre-orders will open on March 17.
