Undertale creator Toby Fox recently provided an update on the testing phase for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. Read on for details on console testing and what to expect.
Deltarune's Console Testing Progressing Smoothly
Save Transfers Coming to the Main Game
Toby Fox, via his Bluesky account, shared that console testing is underway. While much work remains (PS5 testing hasn't even begun!), progress is positive. He noted fewer bugs but a significant amount of testing still needed. Beyond bug fixes, the team is working to enable save transfers from the Chapters 1 and 2 demo to the full game on consoles. This feature, recently made possible by acquired technology, is highly anticipated. "I hope it works!" Fox added.
With beta testing progressing well, a release date may be on the horizon. Fox previously confirmed a 2025 release for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4.
A New Character Revealed: Tenna
Amidst the development, Fox shared amusing anecdotes. He described a minigame he's working on, jokingly stating his family and friends interpreted it as "a cry for help because your game is not out." While his family found it positive, a friend's ten-minute laughter spree speaks volumes!
This minigame's purpose is uncertain; speculation suggests it might be for Chapter 5, given Fox's 2024 statement that Chapters 3 and 4's content is complete. Deltarune is planned for seven chapters.
Fox's update also included a mention of a previously unseen character, Tenna. A friend's comment, "I miss Tenna," prompted Fox's confirmation that this character, first glimpsed during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign in September 2022, will appear in Chapter 3.
Deltarune, the successor to 2015's Undertale, retains many of the original game's mechanics while offering a new story and characters. Players follow Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on a world-saving quest.
