Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
Deltarune's upcoming Switch 2 version was unveiled during the latest Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2. This version will include chapters 3 and 4, along with some exciting exclusive features designed for the next-gen console.
According to a newsletter from Fangamer by Deltarune's developer, Toby Fox, the Switch 2 version will feature a unique room that utilizes the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox enthusiastically shared, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For those playing on non-Switch 2 devices, the special room will still be accessible but with an alternative control scheme. Additionally, players can transfer their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version, ensuring a seamless transition.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
In the same newsletter, Fox announced that Deltarune will be priced at $24.99. This price includes Chapters 1 and 2, as well as the new releases of Chapters 3 and 4. Initially released in 2018 and 2021 respectively, Chapters 1 and 2 were available for free, but it was previously stated that future chapters (3-5) would be paid content.
However, Fox has now revealed that all upcoming chapters will be provided as free updates. This means that purchasing the game once will grant you access to all future chapters at no additional cost. Fox expressed his hope that players would find the game to be an incredible value, stating, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
Additionally, the Deltarune soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4. Future chapters' songs will also be added for free, ensuring that fans get the most out of their investment.
Deltarune Chapters 1-4 are scheduled to launch on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2.
