The Witcher 4 Beta Test Invite Scam

CD Projekt Red Issues Warning

The developer behind The Witcher 4, CD Projekt Red, has taken proactive steps to alert fans about a deceptive beta test invite scam circulating online. On April 16, CD Projekt Red utilized The Witcher's official Twitter (X) account to address the issue, stating they've received multiple reports from the community about fraudulent invitations to a supposed beta test for The Witcher 4.

Their post emphasized, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. If you receive any invites or come across news of one, please report the scam using the tools available on your email client or social media platform."

They further clarified that any future legitimate beta tests would be announced directly through The Witcher’s official channels, ensuring fans are informed accurately and securely.

First Revealed in December 2024

The Witcher 4 was unveiled to much fanfare at the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a captivating trailer that introduced Ciri as the new protagonist, marking a significant departure from the series' traditional lead, Geralt.

The announcement sparked widespread discussion within the gaming community. In a subsequent interview with VGC, The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, addressed the fanbase's reaction to Ciri's new role. Weber, who himself enjoyed playing as Geralt, reassured fans that the team is committed to making Ciri's journey compelling and worthwhile. He noted, "The decision to feature Ciri as the protagonist was made long ago, and our goal is to showcase the many interesting possibilities her character offers."

The Witcher 4's Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, also shared his appreciation for the community's passion and feedback. He emphasized, "Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and we believe these stem from a deep love for our games. The true answer to these concerns will be the game itself upon release."

The developers are ambitiously expanding the universe of The Witcher 4, introducing new regions and formidable monsters. Set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, The Witcher 4 promises to be the most expansive entry in the series yet. While no specific release date has been announced, fans are encouraged to stay updated through official channels and related articles for the latest developments.
