Hill Troll Location in Rune Slayer
The Hill Troll is nestled within a cave on the side of the mountain in Bahlgar. The most straightforward path to reach this location is via the elevator in Lakeshire. Descend to Bahlgar as you normally would when preparing to battle Beastmen. Instead of engaging the Beastmen, keep close to the mountain's wall and continue around it. Pass two platinum deposits and scan one of the mountain's sides for the entrance to the Troll's cave. You'll need to leap into this opening, ideally on a mount, to access it. While it may seem daunting at first, once you've navigated it once, returning to the cave becomes much easier. Hill Troll – Strategy, Loot, and Quest
Despite its menacing appearance, the Hill Troll is actually one of the more manageable mini-bosses in Rune Slayer. Given that you'll likely need to confront it multiple times, you'll quickly become accustomed to its attack patterns.
It's crucial not to engage the Hill Troll alone. While its attacks are predictable and can be dodged, teaming up with at least one other player is advisable. Finding partners shouldn't be difficult, as many players farm the Troll regularly. Plus, after defeating it, the Troll respawns in just 90 seconds.
The Hill Troll wields a massive pillar in combat, delivering slow but potent attacks. You can parry and block most of its moves, except for the overhead smash when it raises the pillar with both hands—dodge this to avoid being stunned. Speaking of stuns, dealing sufficient damage can stagger the Troll, and if you're playing as a Warrior Class, a well-timed Counter can almost always stun the Troll.
While the Hill Troll occasionally drops rare equipment, the focus should be on farming Troll Hides and Troll Heads. Troll Hides are essential for crafting solid endgame gear. Although it's not the best available, it will adequately prepare you for tougher challenges like the Mother Spider.
The Troll Head is a key item for the repeatable Hodor Quest. You can hand over a Troll Head to Hodor, located near the cave, every hour for a chance at some random, potentially overpowered loot. If you're already farming the Hill Troll, it makes sense to participate in this quest as well.
Can You Tame the Hill Troll in Rune Slayer?
Unfortunately, taming the Hill Troll is not an option in Rune Slayer, even for Beast Tamer Archers. As a mini-boss, the Hill Troll is too large and unwieldy to serve as a pet, and it's doubtful it could even leave its cave. If you're a Beast Tamer Archer, stick with the trusty Mud Crab.
That's everything you need to know about the Hill Troll. Enjoy your battles and good luck farming some excellent loot. For more assistance during the endgame, be sure to check out our Essential Rune Slayer End Game Tips.
