After hearing rumors of "worse men" from his past being active in Japan, Yasuke embarks on the Yasuke’s Past quests, which involve completing the Templar Hunt Objective Board. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to find and eliminate every Templar target in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, starting with Kimura Kei.
How to Find the Templar Kimura Kei in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Your first lead on Kimura Kei’s location comes from a ronin contact in Kii. You can find him in central Nakahechi Route at the inn in Takahara Village. If you need to pinpoint his exact location, utilize Scouts. The ronin you're looking for will be inside a building marked with green flags and adjacent to a cherry blossom tree, dressed in Oda Clan attire. Engage him in conversation, and he will direct you to find a recruiter named Kumabe Ujiie.
Where to Find Kumabe Ujiie
Kumabe Ujiie is situated in northern Kii, specifically at a cemetery in Koyasan, northeast of Kongobuji Temple. He will be accompanied by his ronin escort. Approach him and choose the dialogue option "I seek guidance." Follow him, and he will eventually reveal Kimura Kei's whereabouts.
How and Where to Assassinate Kimura Kei
Kimura Kei's Training Grounds are located in the southwest portion of Kii, just north of the shore, midway between Sazae Oni Shores and Nakahechi Route. Upon arrival, follow the other students to reach Kimura Kei. He will recognize Yasuke and order his students to attack.
As you fight, you'll be surrounded by ronin. Equip your highest level armor and weapons to handle the onslaught. Strategically use the explosive red barrels scattered along the path to take out groups of enemies with your bow or teppo.
The confrontation with Kimura Kei initiates a boss fight, which cannot be resolved with a stealth assassination. Equip armor with an engraving that enables you to parry unblockable attacks, as Kimura Kei employs many of these. The battle unfolds in multiple phases:
- Phase 1: Kimura Kei primarily uses a standard Katana. Parry his attacks to make him vulnerable, and use posture attacks and abilities to weaken his armor.
- Phase 2: Once his armor is nearly broken, he switches to a Long Katana and a standard Katana, increasing his use of unblockable attacks. Focus on dodging and striking when possible.
- Phase 3: When his health drops to about half, the fight moves outdoors. He unleashes high-damage unblockable attacks with both Katana. Dodge frequently and maintain distance, using your bow or teppo for long-range attacks.
Every Reward for Killing Kimura Kei in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Upon defeating Kimura Kei, you'll earn 3,000 XP, some Mon, and the Templar-themed Destroyer Samurai Armor and Helmet. The armor features an engraving that reduces the impact of enemy attacks, while the helmet boosts Yasuke's damage by 10% for every 10% of his health missing.
How to Find the Silver Queen in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
After defeating the Shinbakufu, the Silver Queen becomes the next target on the Templar Board, aiding the Portuguese in plundering Tamba. To locate her, you must first speak with a spy.
Where to Find and Talk to The Spy
The spy is located in Southeast Tamba within the Silver Lands. Upon entering the investigation area, you'll find him seated on a rug under a small structure near a wooden cart and crates. Engage in conversation, and he'll disclose the Silver Queen's location.
Where to Meet the Silver Queen
You'll find the Silver Queen in the town of Tada, just northeast of Tada Kakurega, conversing with Portuguese soldiers. Approach and speak with her, then follow her to her house for tea. Be cautious, as you'll awaken in the Tada Silver Mine after being drugged.
How to Escape from Tada Silver Mine
Upon waking, you'll be locked in a room within the Tada Silver Mine. Break the door by sprinting into it. After dealing with any guards, you can choose to fight or sneak your way out. Sneaking is the most efficient option. Head southwest out of the mine, eliminating any enemies in your path.
How to Locate Akechi Mitsuyoshi
The Silver Queen tasks Yasuke with rescuing her brother, Akechi Mitsuyoshi, in exchange for information on Yasuke’s true target. After escaping the mine, head north toward Kameyama Castle. If you need supplies, there’s a Kakurega just north of Senneji Temple in Kameyama.
Activate Pathfinder and navigate through Kameyama Castle, eliminating guards as you follow the suggested path. You'll encounter a bleeding servant in the living quarters who provides a key to the castle’s Tenshu.
How to Free Akechi Mitsuyoshi and Retrieve His Katana
Use the key to enter the main castle building under the Viewpoint and unlock the door where Akechi Mitsuyoshi is held. Follow him as he escapes, using your bow or teppo to eliminate distant threats. After freeing him, return to the castle to retrieve his Katana from Baltazar, who is surrounded by soldiers. Clear the soldiers first, then focus on Baltazar, using abilities and posture attacks to break his guard and deal critical damage.
Once Baltazar is defeated and the Katana retrieved, head north to Atago Shrine. Speak with Akechi Mitsuyoshi and follow him to receive the location of the next target.
How to Find and Assassinate Nuno Caro
Yasuke's final target, Nuno Caro, is preparing to leave Japan and is located in Western Tamba at Takeda Castle. The castle is perched high on a mountain at the end of a winding road. Use Pathfinder for the most direct route.
Takeda Castle is heavily guarded with enemies and alarm bells. Since stealth is less effective for Yasuke, disable these alarms with your bow or teppo. As you ascend, you'll reach a set of double doors leading to Nuno Caro.
Eliminate Nuno Caro's men as you ascend the castle to pursue him. At the summit, Nuno Caro initiates a boss fight. He fights similarly to his soldiers, wielding a sword and a pistol. His sword attacks can be blocked or parried, but dodge when his pistol glows red to avoid its shot. Use abilities to deal high damage and create openings for attacks, repeating this cycle until he's defeated.
Upon Nuno Caro's defeat, you'll complete the Templar Hunt Objective Board.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available from March 20th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
