Will the Nintendo Switch 2 be difficult to find in the U.S. at launch and throughout 2025? Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser assures the company anticipates having sufficient stock to satisfy holiday demand.
In an exclusive IGN interview about Nintendo's new San Francisco retail store, Bowser confirmed strong early interest in Switch 2 while detailing plans for consistent inventory availability during 2025. The console launches on June 5.
"As announced by President Furukawa last week, our production forecast calls for 15 million Switch 2 units and 4.5 million Switch units this fiscal year," Bowser stated.
"This projection aligns with Nintendo Switch's initial 10-month sales performance. For U.S. markets, we're confident our manufacturing and distribution pipeline will meet consumer needs. While early preorder responses have exceeded expectations, we've planned continuous product availability extending through the holiday season."
This bodes well for American consumers seeking the Switch 2 this year. The preorder process has proven challenging thus far. Following tariff-related delays, preorders launched April 24 at $449.99, selling out as anticipated. Nintendo has cautioned My Nintendo Store preorder customers about potential shipping delays due to extraordinary demand.
Bowser's statements indicate preorder customers will eventually receive their consoles. For detailed purchasing advice, consult IGN's comprehensive Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
Concerns persist regarding potential tariff impacts on Switch 2 pricing. When pressed about maintaining the $450 MSRP beyond launch, Bowser offered measured reassurance while acknowledging market uncertainties.

"Our announced pricing - $449 standalone and $499 with Mario Kart World bundle - represents our commitment to consumers despite tariff challenges," Bowser explained.
"We prioritized establishing these price points to provide customer certainty. While market conditions remain fluid, we're dedicated to maintaining product accessibility through any economic fluctuations."
