In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, navigating the expansive battlefields can be a challenge, especially when you need to reach other officers swiftly to turn the tide of battle. While there's no dedicated sprint button—your character will naturally sprint after a few steps of running—a more effective way to cover ground quickly is by using a horse. Horses not only allow for faster traversal but also enable dynamic combat strategies, such as hit-and-run tactics. Let's dive into how you can unlock, level up, and switch horses to enhance your gameplay experience.
How To Unlock The First Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Unlocking your first horse in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is straightforward and happens early in the game. During Chapter 1, after you've completed the "Test Of Zheng Fei" battle, a merchant will appear in the overworld as you head northeast from Wan Castle towards the Battle Of Guangzong. Before you reach the camp, you'll spot the merchant next to his horse. Simply engage in conversation with him, and he'll gift you your first horse, which will automatically be equipped. To summon and mount your horse, press down on the left joystick if you're playing on a console, or hit the 'V' key if you're using a keyboard.
How To Level Up Your Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Leveling up your horse is crucial for enhancing its capabilities and unlocking unique buffs. Your horse gains XP from missions and main story battles that you complete while it's equipped, regardless of whether you actively use it during the battle. Note that your horse does not earn XP from Skirmishes. Missions are identified by a red diamond with a soldier icon, indicating medium-length engagements. The amount of XP your horse earns is influenced by the duration of the battle, as well as how frequently you ride and charge into enemies with it. As your horse levels up at regular intervals, it will unlock different buffs, which vary by horse.
How To Switch Horses In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
While your first horse is automatically equipped, Dynasty Warriors: Origins offers the opportunity to acquire and switch to different horses, each with unique perks and potentially superior speed. You can manage your horses in the Battle Preparation menu, found as the last option on the left side of the screen. To acquire new horses, you'll need to maximize the peace level in a region, after which a new horse will be available as a reward at a nearby waypoint. Always consider switching to a new horse when you get one to optimize your gameplay based on the horse's attributes.
