Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is launching a new turn-based strategy game, Earth vs. Mars, this summer on Steam. This smaller-scale title puts players in a desperate fight for Earth's survival against a Martian invasion. The core gameplay revolves around creating bizarre and powerful creature-human hybrids using the Splice-O-Tron, resulting in unique units like the Squirrel-Cow, Human-Rhino, and Cheetah-Fly. The game draws inspiration from the classic Advance Wars for the Nintendo DS.
According to Relic, Martians have been secretly visiting Earth, abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, their invasion is full-scale, and Earth's resistance needs strong commanders. Players will lead Earth's military forces against advanced Martian weaponry, including saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors.

Earth vs. Mars features a 30+ mission single-player campaign, online multiplayer with both factions playable, a VS Mode for challenging the AI, and a map editor.
Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell stated, "We're excited to put a Relic spin on the Advance Wars style, incorporating our signature elements while recalling some of our earlier titles. This new strategy allows us to develop smaller, indie-style games alongside our traditional RTS titles, exploring new sub-genres, experimenting creatively, and releasing games more frequently."
