Engineers to Care for Grogu in Updated Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run - Star Wars Celebration

Author : Oliver May 14,2025

Star Wars Celebration has unveiled thrilling new details about the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, set to launch alongside the new movie. This update will introduce exciting new elements, including the ability for Engineers to care for Grogu and the addition of Coruscant as a new planet to explore. Alongside Coruscant, guests will also visit Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor in this immersive choose-your-own-adventure storyline.

Scheduled for release on May 22, 2026, this update will take a unique path separate from the plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, yet it will still prominently feature both Din Djarin and Grogu. The narrative kicks off when Hondo Ohnaka uncovers a deal on Tatooine between former Imperial officers and pirates. This discovery sets the stage for an exhilarating, high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Players will join forces with Mando and Grogu to track down these fugitives and secure a bounty in a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure.

While full details are yet to be revealed, it's confirmed that Engineers will have a significantly enhanced role, as they'll be responsible for looking after Grogu. What could be more exciting than that?

To delve deeper into what this update entails, we had the opportunity to speak with Asa Kalama from Walt Disney Imagineering. He shared insights into what guests can expect from this new mission.

"Throughout the mission, we're going to give the Engineers the chance to communicate directly with Grogu," Kalama explained. "We believe it's going to be a lot of fun. There will be moments when Mando has to leave the Razor Crest, leaving Grogu to his own devices. He might get a bit too playful with the control panel. We're excited about creating these fun, engaging vignettes and moments where you're in direct communication with Grogu."

Regarding the choose-your-own-adventure aspect, Kalama highlighted a critical juncture in the adventure. "There will be a moment when you're under pressure and must make a quick decision about which bounty to pursue. This decision will be the catalyst that determines the various destinations you'll visit."
