The Fantastic Four: First Steps Trailer Finally Brings Marvel's First Family Into the MCU, Teases Galactus' Arrival

Author : Daniel Feb 27,2025

Marvel Studios unveils the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, offering a captivating glimpse into what promises to be a blockbuster superhero film slated for release in 2025.

The trailer showcases Mr. Fantastic, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and The Thing, alongside the formidable supervillain, Galactus. Beginning with a dinner scene at the Baxter Building, the trailer highlights the film's stylish 1960s retro-futuristic aesthetic and hints at an epic battle unfolding in New York City.

We witness Ben Grimm's transformation into The Thing, and both he and H.E.R.B.I.E. (the Humanoid Experimental Robot B-Type Integrated Electronics) are shown displaying unexpected culinary skills.

PlayOther scenes feature Sue Storm's brief appearance as Invisible Woman and Johnny Storm's fiery flight as Human Torch. Interestingly, Reed Richards' elastic abilities as Mr. Fantastic are not yet revealed.

A fleeting appearance by John Malkovich, rumored to be portraying Ivan Kragoff (the Red Ghost), adds to the intrigue.

The trailer's premiere took place at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, where stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach interacted with enthusiastic fans.

Scheduled for release on July 25, 2025, the film also stars Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, alongside Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Matt Shakman directs, and Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios chief, produces.

Here's the official synopsis:

Set against a vibrant, 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic backdrop, Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel's First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach)—as they confront their most formidable challenge yet. Balancing their heroic duties with the strength of their familial bonds, they must defend Earth from the voracious space god, Galactus (Ralph Ineson), and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus's planet-devouring scheme wasn't enough, things take a deeply personal turn.

Speculation abounds regarding Robert Downey Jr.'s potential return to the MCU as Doctor Doom, either in The Fantastic Four: First Steps or through a future tease. Feige has confirmed the Fantastic Four's appearance in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Will Robert Downey, Jr.'s Doctor Doom appear in The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
