Forza Horizon 4: Digital Stores to Remove Game and DLC in 2024
Get ready to say goodbye to Forza Horizon 4 on digital storefronts. Microsoft has announced the game, along with all its additional content, will be delisted on December 15, 2024. This popular open-world racing title, set in a fictionalized version of the UK, has captivated over 24 million players since its 2018 release (as of November 2020).
While initially slated for continued availability, expiring licenses necessitate its removal from the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass. The purchase of DLC will cease even sooner, on June 25, 2024, leaving only the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions available for purchase until the December delisting.
Forza Horizon 4's final content update, Series 77, launches July 25th and concludes August 22nd. Post-August 22nd, the playlist screen will be unavailable, but daily and weekly challenges and Forzathon Live events will still be accessible via the Forza Events screen.
Existing owners, whether digital or physical, can continue playing. Game Pass subscribers with active, fully paid subscriptions who have acquired DLC will receive a game token to maintain access. This delisting, while unfortunate, mirrors the fate of other racing games due to expiring licenses for cars and music. Even Forza Horizon 3 previously faced the same issue.
Currently, Steam offers an 80% discount on Forza Horizon 4, and an Xbox Store sale is planned for August 14th for those wanting to grab a copy before it's gone.
